ALLAN ZAVOD was selected to direct the "Theme Songs from the Soaps" music because of his expertise on both sides of music presentation. His compositions and arrangements have brought him the highest critical acclaim. So have his concert performances, not only in classical music, but in jazz, too. His spectacular rendition of Gershwin’s " Rhapsody in Blue" drew rave reviews. There are more than a few spectacular piano parts in the Soap Themes. But what we felt was most important was the arranger’s ability to add freshness, tempered by the artist’s respect and ability to retain the intended spirit and flavour of the original. Allan Zavod fit the bill perfectly. His remarkable sensitivity came through for us and I am proud now to present it to you.
